Eumundi Distillers is a boutique distillery tucked inside The Imperial Hotel Eumundi in the Noosa Hinterland.
Established in 2020, the distillery produces small-batch handmade spirits using the best UK juniper and featuring the finest botanicals mixed with local Cooroy Mountain spring water.
Why Folktale Gin, and what’s in the name? It’s about the folk – people – with a tale to tell and stories to share. The Eumundi folk have tales, and boy, they like to share a story or two.
Like the stories of legendary Dick Caplick, hotel ghosts, colourful artists and their adventures at Eumundi Markets, and many stories about brewing beer. Each bottle of Folktale gin has its own story or tale to tell.
The distilling team can tell amazing tales of “cats” selling gin in London back in the 18th century to avoid fines for selling less than two gallons of gin under the Gin Act. Of course, traditionally, breweries always had cats to keep mice from the grain.
Eumundi Distiller’s range includes Folktale Eumundi Gin (43% ABV) – Which features the beautiful mystical Folktale cat. Using the finest traditional gin ingredients, including English juniper, English angelica root, coriander seed, lavender flower, cassia bark, cardamom and fresh citrus. The Australian native characters join in with lemon, anise myrtles and pepper berry.
Folktale Navy Strength Eumundi Gin (57.1% ABV) – features the Folktale fox, another mythical mystical character with a taste of fresh local ginger, limes and lemon myrtle.
Folktale Eumundi Kaffir Lime Gin (40% ABV) – features the Folktale cat, using the finest traditional gin ingredients plus Australian native characters, and for this, tipple Kaffir Lime Leaves.
Folktale Eumundi Pink Gin (40% ABV) – features the Folktale cat, using the finest traditional gin ingredients plus Australian native characters, and for this delicate drop, Queensland raspberries.
Folktale Eumundi Vodka (40% ABV) – features the Folktale bird and begins its life on the vines in South Australia. This smooth vodka is achieved from their distillation process and brings out a subtle sweetness from the natural sugars.
In addition to Eumundi Distillers’ signature Gins, they’ll also release a range of seasonal varieties, each with its personality and delicate flavour profile. These will only be available at the Tasting Bar at The Imperial Hotel Eumundi.
Concepts range from strawberry Gin using fresh Eumundi fruit to a spicy Tom Yum Gin made with local galangal, lemongrass and kaffir lime.
Eumundi Distillers is heaven for Gin enthusiasts, just a short country drive from Noosa, where you can chill out and relax in this trendy boho village in Eumundi. Sip on fabulous cocktails or the classic GT, and you can pick up your favourite bottle to take home at the bar or shop online.
