Spirit House

The Spirit House is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most awarded Asian-inspired Restaurants in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Yandina.

The Spirit House was opened in 1995 by Helen and Peter Brierty, initially serving morning and afternoon tea and a light lunch. Now, it is a family-run business over three generations.

Today, the newly renovated Spirit House is a Chef Hat-Awarded Restaurant considered one of the finest food experiences in Queensland and boasts a top-rated cooking school.

The moment you walk through the gates of the Spirit House, you embark on a spiritual food journey that goes well beyond the “plate”.

At sunset, Spirit House turns into a magical wonderland, with soft burning lanterns and tinkling temple bells leading through the lush gardens to the temple-style restaurant that wraps around the tranquil lagoon. You’ll feel like you are in an Asian paradise.

Unwind in the modern Hong Sa Bar; the drinks list has an eclectic collection of wines, exotic cocktails, boutique beer, and spirits from around the globe. All are carefully selected to complement Southeast Asia’s spicy and aromatic flavours.

The Spirit House showcases Modern Southeast Asian cuisine; Head Chef Tom Hitchcock takes you back in time with flavours and techniques from the old Thai royal palaces and well-known Thai classics.

The new dining concept allows diners to select their own three or four-course taste experience from the selection of dishes. In addition, the new menu lets you choose 1 item from each section of Entrees, Mains and Desserts.

Starting with Miang Kahm with banana leaf grilled whitefish, peanuts, ginger, and lime or master stock braised pork belly with citrus caramel, hot and sour salad.

For entrée, A light yellow curry souffle with Fraser Isle spanner crab, Green Valley finger lime, and spring onion oil or Thai-style seared beef blade, with green nahm jim and salted egg gribiche.

For the main course, try the seared lamb backstrap with aromatic hung lae curry sauce and pickled garlic or roast duck breast with honey, clove dressing, pineapple and coconut sambal.

Desserts: A delicious mango curd tart, coconut bavarois, crystallised pandan meringue, and crispy rice puffs, or the ginger spiced cake with peanut creme, blood orange marmalade, and coconut ice cream is simply sublime.

The Spirit House and Hong Sa Bar are perfect for intimate celebrations, corporate functions and weddings. Premium and vegetarian banquet menus are designed around a shared dining experience.

The Spirit House Cooking School offers a variety of courses, with day and evening classes. Learn new skills and have an enjoyable experience that includes dining on the recipes you have prepared and a complimentary glass of wine or beer.
