Sum Yung Guys

The team at Sum Yung Guys know a thing or two about opening new venues; co-owners Matt Sinclair, Dylan Campbell, Jeremiah Jones, and Michael Rickard have relocated to their new fully licensed restaurant on Webya Road, Noosaville.

Whilst the food and the Sum Yung Guys experience have turned heads at Sunshine Beach since 2017. The brand new SYG 2.0 continues to shine with Sum Yung Guys’ fourth-year anniversary in June and awarded One Chefs Hat in the Australian Good Food Guide Awards 2021.

The restaurant has a modern feel and a smooth-flowing indoor and outdoor layout, with the deck area, offering cool breezes in the summer months. The decor adds sophistication without sacrificing any of the good-time party vibes whilst sipping on signature cocktails at the bar.

Asian cartoon murals adorn the walls in true SYG spirit, alongside custom-built booths, timber chairs and tables and green foliage hanging from the exposed timber beams above.

The impressive bar is stocked with sakes, a superb range of local and international spirits, local craft beer, Australian wine and a few international wines thrown in the mix. Signature cocktails include the popular Steady Eddie, Splice of Life, Thunder Buddies and the Smoke Bomb, just to name a few.

The menu style is Modern Asian Fusion with flavours from Southeast Asia and a strong focus on fresh local produce from the land and sea. Sum Yung Guys is all about sharing great food and drinks with friends and family with a menu crafted to be shared.

Starting with small plates, we could not go past the sweet slices of Hiramasa Kingfish, green scud, coconut and laksa oil and the local Mooloolaba prawn toast and gochu mayo.

Along the way, medium plates sing with the roast sweet potato salad, cashew sambal, and salted coconut, and the Fraser Isle spanner crab fried rice is simply deliciousness on a plate.

On the main plates, our favourite is the fragrant Penang duck leg curry with pineapple, and snake beans and the “Crying Tiger” short ribs, with fried garlic, lemongrass, and Thai basil. Order a couple of the SYG famous “ Roti” to mop it all up.

If you still have room for dessert, the Pandan sticky rice with fresh mango or the creamy coconut panna cotta, with passionfruit and granita.

The Sum Yung Guys team are committed to serving up honest, seriously tasty, and flavourful food that we have all grown to love. Sum Yung Guys is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner from 12 noon; book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
